Key Benefits
Through our partnership with R1Soft and their Continuous Data Protection (CDP) technology, we can offer your business a stable, secure and highly reliable backup service providing a hands-off approach so you can do what you do best while we secure your critical data.- Bare metal disaster recovery
- Bare-Metal Disaster Recovery: Restore servers directly from disk-based backup. Unlike traditional backup software, there is NO need to first partition your drive and install the operating system.
- Incredible performance - no more waiting for off hours backups
- Sector based backups increase throughput and reduce overhead. Servers can be fully operational with minimal performance impact during backups. Backups can usually be performed at anytime, even on busy servers.
- Small Backup Windows
- Only changed disk sectors are copied between backups. Incremental backups can now be completed in minutes.
- End-to-end strong data encryption
- Data is continuously encrypted while in storage and during network transmission using RSA keys. Decryption during a restore is only possible when the encryption key holder enters their pass phrase.
- Data Integrity
- During backup and restore data is verified using MD5 checksums
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my hard drive fails. Can you fully recover my data and restore my service quickly?Yes. We can do a full bare metal recovery from the point of your last backup. This process typically takes less than 2 hours from start to finish and you are back online as though nothing happened.
Can you restore only a single file, set of files or several directories that I inadvertently deleted?
Yes.. We can recover individual files, directories and/or multiple files or directories.
How soon can a restore process begin after I request it?
We can begin the restoration immediately upon your request as this is an emergency issue that requires an immediate response.
What do you need from me to be able to provide managed backup services?
We will need root access to the machine to install the agent application. If you run a firewall, we will need two ports configured to allow our backup server to access the machine. If you run mysql databases, we will need the mysql root password as well.
How long does it take to setup my backup solution?
Typically, once you order your backup services, the solution can be implemented within 2 hours.
What if I run a custom kernel?
If you are running a custom kernel, we will need to determine whether or not the kernel version is supported by our backup solutions. If it is not, you will need to install a kernel that is supported. In most cases your kernel will indeed be supported.
Can I upgrade my kernel if I have this
service?
You can, however once you do, you will need to make sure the backup agent service is running on the machine once completed. If it is not, you will need to contact us or revert back to your previous kernel.
What OSes are supported with your managed backup
offering?
We currently support CentOS, Fedora and Debian. Windows and FreeBSD solutions are expected to be available in quarter 2 of 2008.
I have an Ensim, Plesk or DirectAdmin Server.
Can I use your service?
Yes, you can assuming the underlying OS is CentOS, Fedora or Debian.
What is the cost to recover my data in the event I am
in need of a restoration?
Restoration of your data is simply billed hourly $90/hr. However with our daily or hourly backup solution, 1 hour of restoration is included in the monthly service rate.
