Virtualized Dedicated Servers (VDS)

A VDS is a private dedicated server to host VPSes for only you and your clients.

 

VDS servers have OS virtualization enabled (OpenVZ) and include Netsonic managed service.

 

Your VPSes run protected inside the VDS host with access to 100% of the host server resources, unlike a traditional VPS which is hosted on a shared platform. VDSes even provide the flexibility to resell virtual servers or even consolidate your other Linux hosting servers into VPS servers on your dedicated VDS to save big money.

VDS Benefits

Crash resistance: With a VDS, you get peace of mind through crash proofing. The system monitors itself and tracks processes and their resource usage. If one or more processes begins spiraling out of control, it will enforce policies to prevent the process from bringing the machine down. This helps promote exceptional uptime.

 

Server monitoring: We monitor critical resources such as memory and CPU usage on the host node. We also monitor those resources for depletion on the virtual node. We will notify you if your virtual node is consuming more resources than the host node has to give and schedule an upgrade.

 

Backups: As part of the VDS service, we provide a second 160GB SATA disk for nightly backups of your entire virtual node. This provides incredibly fast and complete service restoration should there be a hardware failure on your host node. We keep up to 7 days worth of archives in the backup rotation (depending on disk usage). If the disk usage of your virtual nodes are less, we can keep more backups.

 

Recovery: In the unlikely event something happens on your virtual node and massive amounts of data is accidentally deleted either through human error, or a compromised script, we can restore your node from the last backup. In the old days, you would have to reinstall everything on a fresh hard drive. Our method takes recovery down to minutes instead of hours or days.

 

Ease of migration: As your business grows, we can migrate virtual hosts to other VDS servers that you purchase should you need more space on one or the other. We can generally move client hosts with no downtime.

 

Massive resources: A VDS server is the ultimate in virtualization technology offering clients up to 4GB RAM and 1TB disk space. This is generally more RAM and hard drive space than most need but it is an option when looking at future scalability of the platform to accomodate your business goals.

 

Managed host: Netsonic managed services include all maintenance and monitoring of the host server that your hosting platform runs inside of. We manage all security patches and updates for the host OS. Each VDS is monitored for disk space, memory and CPU utilization as well as the number of processes running at any given time. Additional monitored and backed up VPSes in this platform are only $19/mo additional.

 

If you chose to monitor your own VPses, the only charge is only $1/mo for the IP address instead of the semi-managed $19/mo.

 

You manage your hosting platform exactly the way you want to. If you have a control panel such as the Parallels® Plesk Panel, any updates can be made from within the control panel itself through just a few mouse clicks. For those running a standard Linux platform, any normal updates made via ‘yum’ or ‘apt’ are also done whenever you would like.
