Public discussions almost always focus on the sticker price per kilowatt-hour. That number is only one part of the actual operating cost.
Demand charges, power factor penalties, taxes, and riders can add several cents. Always ask for the all-in number under your expected utilization.
15 J/TH versus 25 J/TH is not a small difference. On the same power rate the less efficient unit produces less revenue per dollar of electricity.
A low power rate does not help if machines are offline 5–10% of the time. Effective hashrate matters more than nameplate.
Midwest free-cooling capability keeps overhead lower. A great rate that expires in 12 months is less valuable than a slightly higher locked rate.
Power cost is critical, but it is not the only variable. Efficiency, uptime, cooling overhead, and contract terms determine whether a deployment stays profitable through different market conditions. Operators who focus only on the lowest advertised $/kWh often discover the real operating number later.
